Ya know…it is no wonder this world is so messed up. Adults who refuse to solve problems like adults. There are always 2 sides to a story and there is always a compromise. We expect it from our children (hopefully) but we can not preform it for ourselves. Acting like adults is just that….move beyond your childhood and figure out how to make it work for everyone. I live in Florida……..thank goodness!

I had a good laugh as Snowzilla was rebuilt by people who still believe in the Christmas spirit. Yep, I think I’ll go build me one in my yard now!! Maybe an entire family of them!!

Snowzilla is a great comunity spirit booster, and its great to see how people are standing behind this, but PLEASE people.. I live a few blocks away from snow-zilla.. I have for 30 years and I have nearly hit small children creeping along the street as they run out in excitment. The airport heights community is frustrated with visitors at all hours, packed streets and generally dangersous conditions. Creating this snowman is disrespectful to neighbors. A neighborhood is not the place for this snow man. This tower of snow weighs somewhere around 10,000 lbs given the specific gravity of snow/ice is 919.. built without reinforcement it has a real potential to kill somebody. Please, use this effort to find a proper home for snowzilla, built with proper methods, and please do not let Billy Powers abuse his neighbors any longer.

I read the story in the paper yesterday about how he was ordered to tear down the snowman. I was bummed all day. The kids absolutely love building that snowman and when it is done, imagine their sense of accomplishment. Not to mention the spirit of Christmas it inspires. I drove by the big pile of broken up snow yesterday, and it made me sad that the city would waste their time and our tax money destroying a snowman. My son and I were trying to brainstorm yesterday how we could build our own snowzilla in our yard. Wouldn’t it be awesome if big snowmen popped up all over the city!!!! I was soooo psyched to see that snowzilla was rebuilt secretly during the night. Whoever did it?! YOU GO! we are behind you. Thank you for bring Christmas spirit back and making my day! It’s awesome! Hey city scrooge people find something better and more important to take care of.

Ba Humbug to the code officer. Thanks to those who rebuilt Snowzilla. I love seing him every year. Guess what? You have snow up there in Alaska, might as well have some fun with it. All our presip. runs down the drain here in Brookings, Oregon. Some day hope to see him in person.

Now to all you whiners complaining about snowzilla, how about you move to Phoenix. I live 5 houses away from it, 99% of the residents don’t mind it, we love to see the kids with beaming faces standing next to it. ONE whiner a street to the west complained about it, she complains about everything. It’s a fun thing for kids, period. Go sit on Columbine some night, you’ll see what I mean. The traffic isn’t that bad, if you can’t take an extra 20 seconds to get home, get a life.

I remember when Mr. Powers first made Snowzilla, I took my boys to see him. We lived just down the road near Elmendorf and our whole neighborhood loved him. Even though now we live in Portland, Oregon; my boys still ask to see pictures of Uncle Snowzilla and we’ve even used him here at Comcast as our symbol of perseverence!

The main reason that the snow man was called out to decease to the fun of building a snow man work order upon the residence, is this is a complaint driven town. If any body complains about anything, then the city reacts to that complaint for the complainer. You will be amazed as to how much authority the city has over you, as to how you will use your property and what you can do w/ it. If you wanted to harrass your neighbor there are allot of city offices that will do that for you, if you complain to ea. and every divisions of the city compliants offices.We as citizens of this town of Anchorage need to be more aware of what the city elected officials are voting on, and what codes are being written.Good luck fighting the city as they have your money to fight you, and then you have to use your money for yourself. Its almost a no win situation, and the city knows it. You get to pay for their lawyers and your own. I think the city of Anchorage is wrong on this situation telling people they can’t build a snowman. Dispite the size! Next if you put allot of beautiful lights and display on your home and it attracts allot of people that like to enjoy what you have created, then the city may step in and tell you quite putting allot of emphesis and beauty to your home, as it attracts allot of cars and makes the streets hazzardous to all neighbors.My point here would be that the city is telling us (the citizens of Anchorage) do not do anything differt to your homes that may attract attention and cause people to congrigate around your creations.We all should stop this now. I believe that if a city official is liable for their actions of such gross neglect to the citizens. They should have to represent themselves in there conclusions and interpretations of the codes. We may not see then the neglect to the codes or laws written by its citizens.I say sue the one that wrote up the cease to stop work on the snowzilla. Use our city funds for the citizens, not against them. Maybe we can get some funds from our city to fight this stop work order. Can we the citizens of Anch. ask for such funds to protect ourselves from these kind of dessions being made by a city official? What more can I say here. MERRY CHRISTMAS and GOD BLESS.

Leave it up to the City to want to steal someone else’s thunder! The kids should be allowed to build snowmen (and women!) lol with no problems at all like when WE were kids! If this was in Wasilla or Palmer, or even Eagle River, Im sure there’d be no problem. What about all these new oversized blow-up Christmas Lawn Ornaments that are out now ? Shouldn’t those be considered a safety hazard too ? Long Live Snowzilla! You brought many smiles to many kids!!! Unfortunately, our pathetic City Official took them away. Go Powers! You are a great inspiration to all those who support you!
