Great! Glad to see there is Magic in Christmas.
If the city wants to ban a harmless snowman then fair is fair ban all Christmas light displays, including christmas tree lights, decorations the city puts up! and any others that people might enjoy looking at. which would also include banning the sale of lights that could be seen from the street as one drives by someones home.
Hey if they want to get STUPID! let’s get STUPID!
Isn’t it time for a council recall election? I think so.
Long live “SNOWZILLA” (at least till spring) John Crump I live in south Louisiana so I can’t build a snowman and share it with y’all.I do wanna say that the mayor is violating your freedom of speech. You do not have to verbally say anything to say things. You can build a large snowman and have him speak volumes.I say to the mayor…bah humbug to his politics…Give it a rest and enjoy Christmas………
” For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” john 3:16 Brian wells in south Louisiana

Hey Billy,
How much would you charge to build a Snowzilla in my front yard, I live in South Anchorage.
Maybe next year we could build them all over the city and then print maps like they do for the City of Lights.
Keep up the good work.
Don I believe Snowzilla is a wonderful idea. He brings smiles to the little ones. He makes a wonderful scenery for family portraits. He the “oomph” Alaska needs in the winter time. Maybe next year Bill should have a volunteer day for all ages to come and help build Snowzilla;keep the little ones busy during the Christmas Break(keep them away from doing bad things) Snowzilla bringss my family together to get a family portrait and my family rarely takes photos togheter. Snowzilla is a postive happening towards my family. Bill, I just want to let you know that you are helping out. Dont hold anyone back from expressing their feelings, this is a form of art. This is one of Bill’s masterpieces and leave it be! I also think people should be able to send their photos in and have them posted on this website. Anyways, I believe my family and I will be at Snowzilla tomorrow taking our annual family portrait! Thank you Bill and you other magicians! Porter, Amelia

City managers and the beauracy of City Government have nothing better to do than try to discourage the Christmas Spirit. These public employees need something else to do, besides harrassing anyone who wants to be different and contribute to our Holiday Spirit. Leave this guy alone and stuff yer cease and desist order up the backside. Go away and find a real job to do. I’m a taxpayer and don’t want to see my tax money going to something as stupid as trying to fine somebody for a oversized snowman!
John Reece

It does not require a giant snowman to increase traffic. These are the same no-life lamebrains that would raise holy hell if they tried to put a Wal-Mart in the town. I propose that if they make him take down the snowman or pursue legal action against him, everybody in the vicinity of Anchorage should drive by his house as frequently as possible. If they think it’s bad now, imagine a nonstop flow of cars 24/7. It’s a public road, so it’s not illegal to drive on it. Civil disobedience at its best. We need to teach the local government as well as the nosy neighbors a lesson that they cannot infringe upon a citizen’s personal property rights. Too long have we been complacent and allowed this kind of thing to happen. As Americans, we have a duty to reign-in our government when they get out of hand…remember, they rule only at our discretion…as per the constitution of the United States.
Sean Snowzilla is obviously a terrorist intent on wrecking Christmas. Why Homeland security has not been involved I dont understand! This giant “decoration” is free to see and no one is making a dime. That’s just downright un-American. He threatens the economy while hundreds of people just look at him when they should be out spending money on the REAL (retail) meaning of Christmas. The city leaders should be commended for recognizing there obligation to focus resources on the safety of the community! Next thing you know, people will be hanging lights everywhere, distracting drivers further. Stop the madness! Pete My husband along with countless others who are in the military are fighting for our rights. I think being able to build a snowman around christmas time is a great example. We have all these rights where men and women are fighting with their lives to protect, and here steps in the government to say “no you cant do that”. People should be able to do things like this to bring joy and happiness to peoples lives around the holidays, this snowman is a perfect example of that. If someone cant do something as simple as building a snowman, which is his right on his private property, then what the hell are we fighting for?? Why is it these awesome soldiers are risking their lives? YOU ROCK BILLY, YOU HAVE THE SUPPORT OF ALL THE SOLDIERS AND MILITARY FAMILIES I KNOW. YOU KEEP ON FIGHTING FOR YOUR RIGHTS, AND FOR SNOWZILLAS RIGHTS!!!!!! Annabelle

Let me get this right… Palin can hang out of a helicopter shooting at moving living beings and the town calls Snowzilla a danger? What goes on up there in the Alaskan gov’t!!!
Long Live Snowzilla
Snowzilla Fan

I am SO HAPPY to see Snowzilla back in action!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I heard what was happening and I couldnt believe that we were putting all this attention on something so harmless and GOOD, dont we have bigger fish to fry? Heaven forbid a city come together with peace love and harmony ….I think if Mr. Powers goes to jail or anything of the sort, well Anchorage has some serious issues and should; focus on other problems, people being happy is not a crime, I live in theneighborhood and I love it ..and if snowzila is attrating attention well hmmmmmm if they came here they are spending money here oh man how bad could that be spending money in Alaska while we are checking out the COOLEST SNOWZILLA, Maine has one havent heard anyone being thrown in the slammer for that and the one in Maine really isnt that cute , Snowzilla or Anch. Ak is the cutest …more POWER to you POWERS family please DONT EVER STOP building Snowzilla cause next yr my son will be old enough to really really enjoy him…Merry Christmas to you and your family …..SNOWZILLA SUPPORTER !!!!!!
Lisa

Alright Snowzilla!!! Great to see there is still some Christmas spirit and winter spirit alive in this world. Keep on creating the smiles!!!
To John Smith - Its on private property. Its not like he is charging people to climb all over the thing. He just wants to make a snowman. Put him in Jail for that! How about all of the other crazy stuff that is going on in this world. oooo he must be part of Aal Quida for making a snowman huh? come on get real!
To the City of Anchorage - That snowman looks as stable as a house to me. Do you guys realize that they are making runways for 747 airliners to land on out of packed snow?? Come on here fall on a kid? Give me a break! As far as unrelated fines go and posting them on the internet. Why don’t you list every unpaid parking ticket you have in the city then. Come on scrooge lighten up! oh and I am sure that they are registered and insured cars that are driving on the street. Do you have a bill saying only so many cars on a street at one time?
Keep the Spirit alive Billy!!
Cory

What, there isn’t enough to do but bust someone having a little (ok, 20′ of) fun? What they do in their own yard is their own business…Geez. Is it their fault that the Snowzilla is such a novelty in their town? Maybe if ‘others’ got the Spirit and started participating and DOING and creating, some of that traffic would dissipate.
We have small streets/lots of traffic issues, too. We also have a lot of creative Holiday loving families here. Lots of Traffic? Enterprising people have set up Hot Chocolate and Popcorn stands. One family even set up a Port-o-John when the traffic got to the 2-hour long stage (yes, it really takes that long just to get into the neighborhood, at times) - they charged $.50 to use it. They made more than they were charged to rent it - a little Christmas money that the neighborhood was really happy to have, particularly in this economic climate, and the ‘needy’ were happy to pay for the service.
I don’t really care about any of the past citations that have been issued for anything else against this family - that was irrelevant to this story.
I’m for the Snowzilla - I hope this family can get the Grinches to grow their hearts 3 Sizes next year!
Snowzilla Guerilla

What the hell is wrong with the city of Anchorage. Give ignorant people power and authority and you have the opportunity for abuse! It’s not like an on going thing 12 months a year. Where is the cities spirt of Christmas.
Pat Schatz

Where are the marketing people? Make small plastic replicas…to help support a Snowzilla someplace that would be allowed. Others make giant ice sculptures. Use the story of Snowzilla wisely.
Jerry S

Destroying Snowzilla makes no sense!
Why would anyone want to destroy a snowman? It’s a Christmas decoration. If you destroy this you might as well outlaw Christmas lights and Christmas trees too! I support Powers and his kids 100%! Long live Snowzilla
Allen Laman

Your Rights
I can’t believe that they are trying to take the rights away from a guy and his Family for building a SNOWMAN,That is just INSANE…
YOU Go GETTEM MR.POWERS!!!!!
Julie Soper

I think its very nice and in keeping with the Holiday spirit. Don’t let some pompous, petty official with a power-trip bring it down! Its only for a short while, let people enjoy it.
Eric D

IF I COULD SEND YOU TWO MORE HANDS TO HELP YOU I WOULD !! I HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE HAVE TO ACT SUCH A ASS . GIVE THEM A LITTLE POWER AND THEM WANT TO CONTROL A TOWN :( I THINK ITS GREAT YOU TAKE THE TIME TO DO THIS AND IF THEY WAS ANYTHING EXCEPT A DAMN SCROOGE THEY WOULD SUPPORT AND EVEN HELP TO MAKE IT BIGGER EVERY YEAR ! KEEP IT UP AND I WILL PASS THIS ALONG TO EVERYONE I KNOW TO SHOW WHAT DIP SHITS YOU HAVE IN OFFICE !! MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND YOURS AND MAY GOD BLESS.
Randy

SnowZilla ROCKS THIS PLACE.
Oh, my. I can’t believe having this snowzilla would cause the most ridiculous problems. Agh. Snowzilla needs to come back everyear!!! I think if this city doesn’t hold something this great it would be a dead city. Past few years has gone by, and I’ve gotten use to this Snowzilla. Making it perish, is like destroying the holiday SPIRIT. This Snowzilla, makes my day, and everyONE I KNOW.
YOU ROCK SNOWZILLA!!
Happy Holidays or TRY TO have One.
GOD BLESS
Hannah

You are getting famous, Snowzilla
I found this website over an article on the website of one of the major newspapers in The Netherlands, Europe. You will find the article (in Dutch!) here: http://www.telegraaf.nl/buitenland/2868921/__Verschrikkelijke_sneeuwman_is_terug__.html
Merry Christmas!
Mickel

Greetings to the Powers family!
We here in Massachusetts support your snowman. We think that snowzilla should run for president. You would have our votes. We also have seven children. We know what it is like to be misunderstood. Merry Christmas to your family and God Bless!!!
The Cains.

Can you see him from Russia? Maybe thats the problem
Lisa

I am glad to see that Billy Powers is teaching his children that snowmen are magic. I saw the video and particularly liked his comment that snowmen are not connected to any religion.
I agree with him - if you can’t have a snowman in Anchorage Alaska, what can you have?
From the view of the street area in the video, it seems that the residential area can quite easily accommodate visitors. On that point, I disagree with the city’s actions about the snowman.
Yay for Magic Snowmen!
Alix Andrews Way to fight against the “Machine” you are an inspiration to all fed up with power mad beaurocrats keep it up. Andy Hamm

This guy is crazy. Why can’t he build the snowman in his back yard so it causes no problems. He wants attention and that is why he is beligerant. If I lived on his block, I would melt his snowman with a hidden can of sterno at his base. Somebody stop the insanity.
Chuck Dowdy

Snowzilla, you are not alone!
From your other snowzilla brothers and sisters in the world….

you can’t control the kids noise and you can’t control the traffic where i live in barrie ontario they don’t mind having
these kinda stuff so you should start a partition to save it and release you of the fine for it, sounds like city hall is
the Scrooge, and if they are reading this i would like to say that your a bunch of idiots in my mind for ruining the
holidays for the kids has i know they would love it around here so they are lucky to have such a man to build it every
year.
michael csikos

Your Snowzilla is great. I hope I see it on Good Morning America, and the other networks too. This will absolutely be
seen and acknowledged as something good, very good.
Joel Moore WOW, if I could build one here in Phoenix, Az I would! I guess the closest I could get would be to put a huge hat,
carrot, etc into my swimming pool…..LOL! Best of luck with your impending fight with city facism. In the report I
read they (city officials)referred to you as “this property owner….”. I would think that might help, since they
acknowleadge the property is YOURS! Merry Christmas to you and your 7 kids, as well as any other family member of yours
this city intends to harm with this tripe attack. Rygg Cochran

I live in Indiana and that street is bigger than some that we have in Lafayette. The snow man looks pretty sound. I
don’t know how its considered a hazard. I would talk to the Governor. Your clearly being harassed
Ken Miller

Greetings from snowy Prince Edward Island, Canada. It’s so refreshing to see someone who has the spirit of the Holiday
Season….even if there are some Bah-Humbugs in your town who are trying to squash the fun!
Keep fighting the good fight and may Snowzilla grow larger every year!
Merry Christmas!
Jeff & Family, Prince Edward Island, Canada

Thanks for the magic!
We here in Orlando only have a big mouse…nothing like the magic of Snowzilla.
I know the neighbors may be a little upset but they may not appreciate all of the joy snow deprived folks such as ourselves get from this great symbol of winter fun, good humor and childhood never ending.
Thanks Anchorage and please, leave Billy and Snowzilla alone. Ol Sol will resolve the problem in due course leaving us hoping that next year the magic will return once again.
With tidings of joy from all of us here in Florida……
Falco Witkamp

I think its great that SnowZilla is back! obviously it brigns kids great joy! I wish out here in cali we could have a giant snowman! I would love it! And Good for you on spreading smiles across the USA with your snowman! It made me smile while at work! I think those jerks that are giving you such a hard time need to evaluate themselves as well as the city council……i mean really is it that nessicary to get all crazy over a snowman for the holidays? Whatever! And Merry Christmas to all of you! My Family and co-workrs support SNOWZILLA!
Nathalie Thanks to whoever rebuilt Snowzilla this year. It is a travesty that city, state and federal government officials are so determined to take away our property rights (see Kelo v New London) and other basic freedoms. While some may find this a “weird” or “odd” story on page 16 of the local newspaper, it should be front page of all national papers as this is a battle for freedom. My home state of Washington has considered the possibility of making it illegal to wash your car in your driveway or in the street.
God Bless Billy Powers and Snowzilla! You are molded in the tradition of Daniel Shays! Tony, King County, WA

Is SnowZilla make completely of snow? If there is a safety concern, perhaps structural supports would satisfy offical’s objections…? You,ve been doing this for over a decade and the only problem is too much Holiday traffic of people all too happy to see it? Jerusalem has the same problem only they don’t think it is a problem.
God Bless you and Merry Christmas.
Jim The pursuit of happiness is in your constitution!Your problem is, “Republicans”
in your city hall. The “head” in Washington
will be removed shortly, the rest of the dragon
may twitch, but ultimately will wither away.
If airbourne footware is your style,I’d recommend steel toed saftey boots with long laces, they could be twirled a few times overhead, before release(much better range and harder to duck).
Best Wishes to you and yours! John Leach

If the city does not like where the snowman is being constructed, why don’t they provide a sutiable area for the construction of said creation? If it is bringing tourists to view the attraction, it can also be of some much needed revenue to the city, and isn’t that what the real problem is? The city officials can’t profit from it so they want to shut it down. This time of year has become rediculous, all this man is trying to do is bring some much needed Christmas cheer into the world.
Trisha Johnson

I emailed my friends and family a link to your site, I think this is awesome.
The snowman made me giggle. I would have loved to have been there and helped yall build it.(we dont get snow here in SC)
It’s a shame that the city ‘lawmakers’ have nothing better to do than whine about this.
As I see it, the extra traffic would be welcomed, the town would get people stopping in for gas, snacks ect…
I hope you keep ’snowzilla’ going.
God Bless you and your family!
Merry Christmas
Sammi

Keep up the Fight
I applaud your efforts dont let them bust your spirt because I some people have a problem with your hobbies

Constitutional Rights
I’m a retired police officer from Illinois. We had a situation where one of our residents would display anti American signs along with some pretty gruesome abortion signs as well. The neighbors were very upset, and the city wanted to confront the resident, and make them remove the graphic signs and anti American stuff. Not so fast says the constitution. A lawyer got involved and a judge ruled the residents right of freedom of expression could not be violated. We ended up having to station a patrol car in front of the residents home to protect him from the rest of the neighborhood. I think the city of Anchorage might find themselves on the wrong side of the constitution and a civil rights violation. And come on anyways, its a snowman for gods sake. I think this guy must live on Grinch street USA.
Daniel West

A Beautiful job, the most handsome snowman I’ve ever seen. However, he needs a bride, next year perhaps?
Gary

What a great idea. You can’t help but feel the holiday spirit after seeing Snowzilla. I don’t know how long he will be around for, but down here in Hamilton Ontario, we’d be lucky to have him for a couple of days at best because of the rain. Hope to see him again next Christmas. Way to go Billy.
Eric France

Snowzilla, Embassador of Goodwill
Snowzilla could become a figurehead for a snow and ice festival. This could be the beginning of something rather substantial.
Walt Disney ran into lots of persecution with making Disneyland. You’re in VERY good company.
Waldrich the Conquerer, Eugene, Oregon

I know and love this family. they are the most giving , caring people that you would want to know. I also know that they went to everyone on there street and asked if they objected to them building the snowman and none of them objected. one even said he bought his house because of the snowman that gives nothing but joy to so many. The city is just trying to create havoc where there is none. So remember what the season is about and lighten up and help spread the joy. long live snowzilla !
Debbie Karatzas Snowzilla is a symbol of property ownership rights, rights that embody the spirit of the United States of America. Too bad Senator McCarthy isn’t around to investigate Mr.Abbott. That is a quality snowman!!!!I suggest a Jesus, Mary & Joseph theme next year & then if those Scrooges want to take issue, give to ‘em good with the religious freedom argument. Merry Christmas to All! Jay

A family in my neighborhood was ordered to stop putting up Chhristmas lights because the neighhbors complained about traffic!!!! They decorated the yard in a way that made it a miniature park to weave through and the garage was turned into a magic snow villiage. Loads of people came to walk through and they gave donations to help with the electric bill in a coffee can in the garage. It was an outrage that they were ordered to stop something so whimsical and now snowmen are illegal because of neighbors? Are they just jealous of attention that they don’t know how to get for themselves?
Melissa Miracle

Bah hum bug to city and opposing citzens for wanting to put a stop to something that is done once a year?
Build spirit for your city by supporting something that brings joy to many who go to see this especially the kids.
Put something into place to make the excess traffic managable for the short period that its there.
C. Balcom

Oppressive governments
Here in Kingsport, Tenn. the city geniuses enacted a ‘no un-used car on your property, near the house etc.’ordinance.
Then they had some artist bring in what appeared to be a rusty, circa 40′model chevy half/ton flatbed pickup truck and parked it on the lawn in front of the chamber of commerce downtown.
Go figure.
Chris Mckinney

Way to go you guys!!!
I’m from Canada where we celebrate snow and cold!!
What you are doing is terrific…..and FUN!!!
I wish we had thought of it first.
Tell your city hall to lighten up and know that Snowzilla is doing MUCH better with the international media than your last personality export!!
Merry Christmas!!
Bruce Davidson WE THINK THAT THE CITY AND STATE SHOULD SPEND THERE TIME ON “DRUG TRAFFIC” AND NOT THE TRAFFIC THAT IS GENERATED WITH A “SNOW MAN” WE LIVE OUT IN WASILLA WHERE THERE IS WELL KNOW DRUG TRAFFIC ALL AROUND AND WE DONT SEE ANY cease-and-desist ORDERS POSTED UP!! WE INVITE SNOWZILLA TO BE BUILT IN OUR YARD, SO MAYBE WE WOULD GET MORE SNOWZILLA TRAFFIC AND LESS DRUG TRAFFIC!!
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND THANK YOU FOR KEEPING CHRISTMAS ALIVE!!WERE HEADED TO ANCHORAGE TO SEE HIM!! WE WILL BE SENDING THIS PAGE TO ALL MY FRIEND AND FAMILY!! CHRIS AND BRIDGET STRACHAN bridget and chris strachan

You know - it is more the heart breaking how the USA, media, and the general population are consumed with negativity, disrespect and involved in anything that they have no business being involved in! If this man wants a large snowman in his front yard, if he enjoys the Christmas spirit, he loves to see the children’s faces light up when they see this, then so be it!! It is a wonderful thing!!!! He is not invading anyone’s privacy, he is not harming anyone or their property or anything else!! There is nothing negative here except people that have nothing else to do!! These naysayers need to get a life!! We let them have too much say in way too many things instead of standing our ground as a free nation, under God built upon true morals!!!! Then snowman is bound to bring much joy to alot of travelers, nieghbors, children and the family that lives here. The rest doesn’t count!! It just doesn’t. More people should want to take the time to pass on a little more happiness and share a little more cheer and work together to spread more peace and joy!! For free!!!
This snowman has every right to be there every year!!! Best wishes! Have a happy new year!!!
Barb

the bigger the better but if they are worried about traffic why don’t they find a better place for it and build one themselves. i want one in my yard. we could put them in all our yards how much fun would that be!!!!!
Wendy Luft

With his black stove pipe hat and a silly carrot nose,
He strikes a defiantly jolly pose (Snowzilla!)

He’s the most popular guy in town,
And that makes the city stooges frown (Snowzilla!)

He warms our weary hearts and makes us all smile,
So don’t take our friend, humbugs, let him stay and chill awhile (Snowzilla!)

Oh no, they say he’s got to go
Ho, Ho, Snowzilla, yeah
Oh no, can’t you see we’re all aglow?
Ho, Ho, Snowzilla, yeah

Oh no, they say he’s got to go
Ho, Ho, Snowzilla, yeah
Oh no, don’t give him the heave-ho!
Ho, Ho, Snowzilla, yeah

Oh no, they say he’s got to go
Ho, Ho, Snowzilla, yeah
Oh no, can’t you see we’re all gung-ho?
Ho, Ho, Snowzilla, yeah

History shows again and again
How Grinches steal the Christmas joy of men
Snowzilla!

Pat

I don’t have pictures of a snowzilla that I built, but I wanted to pass on a website that does support your thought! Please check out the site:
http://www.bethelmainesnowwoman.com/
This shows what an entire community can come together and accomplish!!! Shame on the government that is trying to stop Snowzilla or any other childhood icon! It’s SNOW - it will MELT - no need to go all bah humbug on the snowmen and it’s creator(s). Let the community come together over something this great. And for those residents that don’t like the snowman or the interest it attracts, tell them to just stay inside. No ones forcing them to look!
Enjoy the pictures from Bethel Maine!
Heather O, West Allis, Wisconsin

Mr. Powers is absolutely correct. Where I live there are people who go WAY overboard with their Christmas lights and many people come from all over to see them, yes we complain about the traffic is causes but that’s as far as it goes. No one with ANY common decency would ever try to stop it. After all it is Christmas, where is their Holiday spirit? If it were me I say screw the city and everyone else who doesn’t like Snowzilla - I love it!! Merry Christmas to all!!
Tanya

Are people honestly complaining about a snowman? I mean would they make me take a snowman down out of my front yard if it had a bunch of flashy stuff that brought about attention? GET REAL! Let Snowzilla stay! He’s bringing people together in the spirit of Christmas!
Lindsay

I like snowzilla, howevever take him down after New Year’s. If I lived near by and had see that every day, it would become an eye sore.
But it is great for Christmas. Who knows, I might want to come to Alaska to see snowzilla. And I know the city would love the tourist dollars that comes with that visit.
Mike Cook

Please…It’s time to vote out all the idiots and Goverment officials that dont have the guts to stand up for the majority…Go Snowzilla…STAND FIRM and Merry Christmas
Bill

I’m digging that Christmas Magic Mr. Powers!
Hooray for Snowzilla!
